I went to Astoria and Seaside this weekend with my friend Jenny and her little sister. I had never been to the northern oregon coast before. The beaches are a bit wider. The water is about the same temperature though. We bought two boogie boards (cheaper than renting them, as the shop demanded that they rent boards only in conjunction with wetsuit rentals, and the water isn't that cold.) Had lots of fun. I was in the water for about four hours or so. Now I have horrid sunburns covering about 40% of my body... apparently I didn't use quite enough sunscreen.

It's been many years since I got a bad sunburn all over my back. Last night it was very, very hard to get to sleep. Today its just a bit uncomfortable; rather than scream-inducing pain, I just feel a sort of angry-cat-dragging-across-the-back feeling.

Except for in the shower this morning. That was more of a red-hot heated knife blade digging into the spine sort of feeling. But it's healing fast.

I now have a few thousand more freckles, too.

I'm writing this while sitting in yet another class at Intel. We're hours behind... I don't think we'll get out before 5 PM. It was very interesting at first, but it is getting on my nerves so I'm not really listening anymore.

a glockenspiel, also sometimes referred to as 'bells', is basically a metal version of the xylophone.
